Escorted Tours

If you are a first time visitor to a destination or do not want to drive in unfamiliar places, an escorted tour should be your first choice. Escorted tours are normally conducted by a tour director who takes care of all services from the beginning to the end of the tour. Escorted tours normally include flights, hotels, transportation, transfers to the airport/hotel, most meals and sightseeing. Escorted tours are typically conducted by motorcoach but can also be combined with rail and a cruise. They can be fast-paced, with no more than 2 nights spent in each location, or more leisurely, with more time spent overnight in a specific area.
There are many tour operators offering a vast amount of choices in destinations. Consider that more value oriented tours can use hotels outside of the city center or ones that offer limited service , they may also offer optional tours in cities which will continue to add more cost.
Some of the more budget friendly tour operators are:

Trafalgar Tours
Cosmos

When you are choosing a tour, consider first what your interests are, what kind of hotel you prefer, whether you want some free time or are more interested in an in-depth experience. We find that Collette Vacations offers a wide variety of destinations and within that there are more refined options for Smithsonian Journeys for the history minded and Explorations for those who prefer to travel with small groups.

Then there are the true cream of the crop operators who are well-known for their quality and extraordinary services. We love Tauck World Discovery offering tours to all seven continents. Aside from their destination choices you will also find their special programs. Bridges is specifically designed for families traveling with children and Culturious offers immersion into a local culture and specifically appeals to active travelers. Also consider Abercrombie and Kent and Travcoa who offer an even more upscale experience.
